When I was a new teacher I would spend the entire summer – every free moment working on stuff for the next year. It was only when I had my daughter that I realized the importance of taking time for myself and my family. So, this summer I have spent relaxing, traveling, snuggling with my precious girl and every once in a while thinking about school…
That is truly what summer is for – to get refreshed and ready for the upcoming school year. I hope you haven’t missed my posts too much as I have taken time for myself. In the coming weeks, I plan to share some of my ideas for back to school and the upcoming school year.
For now let me share some of the pictures from my summer adventures with you 😀
I truly hope you are having a great summer! What have you been doing to refresh yourself this summer?
One of my favorite things to do, if/when I get a moment alone in the car, is to listen to podcasts. A few months ago I found this awesome podcast called THE SIMPLY TEACH PODCAST. This podcast is done by Kelly who used to be a teacher in the classroom and she interviews amazing educators and shares organizational tips.
I wanted to add her to my teacher feature this month because she has some great ideas about packing up and cleaning out at the end of the year. She also has some amazing resources for rejuvenating over the summer and starting off the year right. Click the photo below for a link to the show notes from episode #43 –
If you want some one on one help in your classroom she offers coaching sessions along with other resources in her shop.
So, if you want something neat and teacher-y to listen to, go to iTunes or google podcasts and search for simply teach!
Wooooo whoop! It is summer time. I am finding out as time goes on that I am way more excited about summer! Mostly because I love the beach and it is nice to relax after being so busy during the school year.
I am writing this post from beautiful St. George Island, where I have been enjoying time with my family. To celebrate summertime I, along with some of my other selling friends, am throwing a sale. Simply click the image above to check out my store.
I am off to sit under my umbrella 🙂
I am now back in the states. One of my favorite things to do with my daddy is to go fishing. We have went fishing together my entire life. Sometimes we catch things and other times we just enjoy the peace and quiet that the lake brings. Besides my dad says that if we just caught things it would be called catching not fishing.
I took this time to use fishing as an inspiration for a new resource in my classroom. My students get very bogged down with research. They don’t really have the proper steps to go through. I have tried note cards and outlines, but it all seems to go over their head. Today I made a product that I hope will help with this next year.
It is called fishing for research and it uses the acronym or acrostic ‘FISH’ to help them find and organize their information. An explanation is availble for free in my TpT store by clicking the picture below.
In honor of fathers day and the beginning of summer I am hosting a sale on my TpT store as well. The sale will be running from June 16-20. There will also be a giveaway in my Teachers Notebook store. So go there and check it out. Click here or below to find out about other teachers who are having similar sales, freebies and giveaways 🙂
Only four weeks until my summer begins. I have lots of projects I would like to do and people to see. I want to see people I haven’t seen, go shopping, make things and make some resources to use in my classroom. However, here is my bucket list:
Cool Stuff I want to Make
Cute Wreath for My Classroom Door
Fabric Covered Notebooks
Follow tips from SchoolGirlStyle.com and decorate my classroom
DIY Hanging File
Monogram DIY Dispenser
Places to Go and People to See
I honestly cannot wait to go back to the states. This is the longest I have ever been away from my family. It will be great to spend time with them, relax and eat AMERICAN food 🙂
